Try something new this winter. The EMS Exploration School Guides will be at Tenney Mountain presenting special hands on clinics on many exciting winter activities, including mountaineering, ice climbing, winter camping, telemark and backcountry skiing.

Hiking Above Treeline Winter Skills
A great way to get started learning these very important skills. You will learn hands on how to pack your pack, what to pack, what to eat and how to dress. We'll show you how to choose the right ice axe, boot and crampon combination, how to fit your boots and crampons. You'll learn how to properly use your ice axe and crampons on various types of frozen terrain, and how to self arrest.
3 hours $75
Saturday and Sunday 1:00-4:00

Introduction to Ice Climbing
Let us show you how to climb a frozen waterfall. Our time is spent outside, progressing from low-angle to vertical ice. You'll learn what all that sharp pointy stuff is, how it works and most importantly how we do it safely. We'll show you how to use the equipment, tie into and belay with the rope and get plenty of practice climbing.

Guided Snowshoe Hike 
We'll provide you with snowshoes and poles and give you a quick lesson on how to walk with snowshoes and then take you on an easy hike to a scenic overlook.
2 hours $25 per person

Introduction to Telemark Skiing 3 hours $75
Ever wanted to Free the Heel and Free the Mind? Let our certified PSIA instructors show you how.
Learn how your boots, bindings, and skis work.
Learn basic skills for gliding and turning on modern telemark skis.
Practice downhill techniques on beginner slopes that suit your ability.
Saturday 9:00-12:00
Sunday 1:00-4:00

Intermediate Telemark Skiing
Advance your skills $50 per hour by appointment
Saturday and Sunday

Introduction to Backcountry Skiing 3 hours $75
Time to leave the ski area behind and move out to the wilds of the backcountry. Learn techniques to feel comfortable on "wild" snow.
Techniques include: uphill travel, skin use, what to bring, and how to dress.

Sunday 9:00-12:00
All technical gear included.
